Not many know of the lonliness of the long distance runner. Few have experienced the sensation of training alone. Having only your thoughts and a camera with you for training companions as you constantly and consistantly put yourself in harm's way as train and be ready for the unexpected. The untrained eye rarely sees the moments behind the jump. The hours of conditioning and repetitions involved with each movement. I've learned that the observers aren't going to be there with you on early morning runs, or hot afternoon sessions- but they will stand at the finish line only to see that brief moment of glory as your chest breaks past that ribbon making all that training worth while.

Find Your Zen
Below is a pic of Carey, Mike and myself when we were in Santa Cruz, Cali Last year. We went there to work hard, to work really hard, and to have a little fun in the sun. It was somewhere during this adventure that I truly understood the phrase on one of my cf shirts that simply stated "It doesn't have to be fun to be fun." I don't know if it had anything to do with the ocean breeze, gettng coached and training with my heroes, doing Painstorm workouts, and being at the Meca of Crossit happenings but I found my zen. I am where I am supposed to be doing what I love with some of the greatest people on earth. I am proud to be a part of the CrossFit Central team!

Heroes
A hero does not have to risk their life for you, they can be a friend. They can just be there with you to share the good and the bad. That's a hero in my eyes...

300- My Highlights... and Lowlights
I participated in the Spartan 300 Challenge once again but this time I hit a wall that I hadn't experienced in any of my other 300 adventures. It was around 100 degrees, the humidity was high, and I had been coaching/spotting for 5 solid hours before I worked out. Still I have no excuses. I have since tightened the screws on my diet and training regimen. The Spartan is emerging once again...

World-Class Fitness in 100 Words
■ Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds,
some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep
intake to levels that will support exercise but
not body fat.
■ Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean,
squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly,
master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups,
dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to
handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds.
Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast.
■ Five or six days per week mix these elements
in as many combinations and patterns
as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy.
Keep workouts short and intense.
■ Regularly learn and play new sports.

Training for prepardness on how to manuver through any given enviroment means that one must train in several enviroments and in many ways. I have climbed and jumped off of mats, pads, rocks and trees, the sides and tops of buildings, and everything in between. I still have a great way to go on my journey but I can comfortably look back and see that I have made progress and that I haven't stood still. I can see where I am now and know where I have been. I hold myself accountable to reaching my goals as a coach, a trainer, as a athlete, and as a practitioner of movement. All are welcome to join me on this mission...
