Nutrition…the foundation of weight loss


Looking at the science behind good nutrition is a detailed and complex thing involving hormone levels, digestive absorption, etc. Following good nutrition does not have the be complicated…at it’s most basic, we should eat meat & vegetables, nuts & seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Here is a fresh take on the traditional food pyramid…following this Zone Paleo food pyramid is key to weight loss, athletic performance or both.

Harmony of Strength and Balance


Are you sic fit? Besides proficiency in the 10 General Physical Skills-
1. Cardiovascular/respiratory endurance - The ability of body systems to gather, process, and deliver oxygen.
2. Stamina - The ability of body systems to process, deliver, store, and utilize energy.
3. Strength - The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply force.
4. Flexibility - the ability to maximize the range of motion at a given joint.
5. Power - The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply maximum force in minimum time.
6. Speed - The ability to minimize the time cycle of a repeated movement.
7. Coordination - The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement.
8. Agility - The ability to minimize transition time from one movement pattern to another.
9. Balance - The ability to control the placement of the bodies center of gravity in relation to its support base.
10. Accuracy- The ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given intensity.
Sic fit is being well at all 10 at any given moment and to be able to pull from more than just 1 skill set at a time. Train to get fit and train to get sic fit.

Health Fair @ the LCRA



Zach and myself represented Crossfit Central at the LCRA Health Fair yesterday. Zach teaches a M/W/Thr 5-6pm class and I teach a M/W/F 6:15-7:15am class on location. We answered questions about how to get started, what it is we have to offer, and what we can to for you. It was a great deal of fun for us both.

Equestrian Workshop a Hit!

Everyone who attended the Equestrian Workshop this past weekend had the greatest time! Hearts melted as they worked with Teddy a 18hh painted horse. Grins reached from ear to ear on the faces of all. Physical and mental barriers were shattered as the participants stepped intop thir bodies and outside of their comfort zone as they experienced the amazing sport of vaulting.
